Reductive Block Printing

Instructor: Chris Lauer

An intermediate course in linocut printmaking which builds on the methods of single color linocut printing.  While only using one block and a little bit of planning, we will create a 2 color print and teach you the tools to create prints with many more colors than that!  This class will teach the versatility and illustrative qualities of this classic printmaking style!

Objectives: 

1. Greater understanding of the possibilities of printmaking

2. Develop a two color design that can be printed using one block

3. Print a series of 3 identical (ish) two color prints.

Some experience with relief printing is encouraged but not required

Chris Lauer is a printmaker using many different methods from relief printing to silkscreen.  Lauer is also a sculptor, painter, and photographer.  As a mostly self-taught artist, Lauer has built a knowledge-base across 2-D and 3-D mediums and a love for teaching others.
