Drypoint Etching
Instructor: Chris Lauer
Etching is a classic form of printmaking that you may recognize in the illustrations of all your favorite classic books! Drypoint etching is a modern way to recreate the same look without the use of metals and dangerous acid baths. By carving line drawings into plexiglass we will be able to fill those lines with ink and transfer that hand drawn image onto paper to create a series of original and identical works.
Objectives:
Understand the medium of Printmaking as a whole
Create depth and shadow with line drawing techniques
Create a series of 3 identical (ish) prints.
No previous experience required. Bring a 4in by 6in black and white image that you’d like to work with or one will be provided.
