Botanical Dyeing with Alum Mordants

This class with introduce students to the basics of botanical dyeing and how to use alum salt mordants. We’ll cover the process for both cellulose and protein fibers. Alum mordants aren’t dangerous but need to be used with care, so this is not a method to use around children or pets.
Objectives:
Introduce attendees to the basics of botanical dyeing
Acquaint attendees with how to mix alum salts and complete the mordanting process for cellulose and protein fibers
Walk attendees through an example dye process when using alum mordants
