As an artist and printmaker, I explore rigidly organized structures juxtaposed with organic elements.
I come from an art & design background at the University of Maryland and a mobile/web application design career, so I am heavily influenced by grid structures, hierarchy, digital mediums, and minimalism. However, I use my art as an escape from rigidity and incorporate more organic, natural elements, not only to create balance and harmony, but also as a commentary on mental health and the unpredictability of life.
I love using the dichotomy of organic vs. structure in my artwork, as my two biggest influences are Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky. I fell in love with screenprinting as a student and love using other techniques to achieve the organic, unpredictable nature of printmaking.
My goal is to allow the viewer to experience how the interplay of organic and structured elements can tell a story.
